Overview


Salary: $37,000 - $52,000

Schedule: Monday through Friday, shifts between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM (flexible hybrid)

The 1st Mortgage Closer plays a vital role in improving the financial lives of Suncoast Credit Union members. Key responsibilities include preparing and discussing

closing disclosures with borrowers on their first mortgage, FNMA, portfolio, construction, and investor mortgage loans. This individual performs all duties in accordance with credit union policies, procedures, and state regulatory guidelines. An ideal candidate is a courteous individual who provides efficient service with the utmost concern for the confidentiality, security, and privacy of member data.

Responsibilities


  • Administer tasks to meet all closing conditions associated with the loan approval according to Fannie Mae, PMI, FHA, USDA, and credit union guidelines
  • Perform verbal employment verifications prior to closing on applicable files
  • Ensure accurate loan information is in the origination system and displayed on applicable documents such as the loan amount, term, interest rate, borrower names, and closing costs 
  • Obtain internal payoffs for accurate disbursement dates and update the origination system
  • Produce accurate mortgage closing documents
  • Verify data entry including legal description, applicable mortgage riders, adjustable-rate change dates, accurate calculation of initial escrow deposit, closing costs, and inclusion of closing conditions noted in loan underwriting approval
  • Resolve outstanding closing conditions prior to scheduling the closing date
  • Ensure adequate coverage of hazard and flood insurance is established and Suncoast Credit Union is listed as the mortgagee
  • Establish and maintain rapport with mortgage applicants
  • Conduct phone calls and electronic communications to answer questions in accordance with established performance standards and benchmarks
  • Ensure accurate preparation and approval of closing Disclosures
  • Assist service centers with questions regarding consumer mortgage applications in the closing stage
  • Communicate with members and conduct closings of mortgage loans
  • Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge


Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years of mortgage processing or closing experience
  • 2+ years of Fannie Mae experience preferred
  • Ability to work evening hours outside of normal operating hours
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, deal effectively with competing and changing priorities to meet deadlines
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and organized with task management
  • Ability to analyze and resolve routine problems or situations
  • Knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities
  • Proficient written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
  • Ability to communicate information requiring explanation or interpretation
  • Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment
